European Robin Greetings

This post  has moved to my new blog location at:

Please join me there for new updates and photographs of the beautiful Beara Peninsula!

The European robin is a lovely little passerine bird. Its appearance is similar to a thrush but is actually considered to be in the Old World flycatcher family. An incredible singer, funny and curious, this sweet fellow greeted us on our first day in Droum Woods just outside Castletownbere. He was so busy singing he didn’t seem to mind me getting close to him to take the picture below.

What can I say about Droum Woods so far? We are surrounded by greenery and fields and bright morning bird song. The nights are dark and oh-so-quiet and the air is sweeter than you can imagine.
